I’ve been shooting video for about 10 years now ever since the Canon 5d mk2 came out which I used as a back-up to my other digital cameras.
I started off mainly filming documentary reportage style shoots of events and my own photoshoots. I really enjoy the dop side of shooting video; getting the framing and lighting right so the action can unfold easily in front of the camera.
This naturally developed into filming more pieces to camera in interview style formats. On teacher training courses getting feedback from students which would encourage future students to sign up to the course. To filming pieces to camera of athletes and football players chatting about new product launches.
Now I’m moving more to setting up my stills shoots with continuous lighting to seamlessly transition from stills to video and have the same dramatic, clean, crisp lighting without having to switch lighting set-ups.
I’m grateful to have a small team around me when needed for bigger video shoots too. For smaller projects I use my own kit and do my own editing.
Most of my video work is on my vimeo page. My degree course was photography, film and video and my passion for films such as 2001 A Space Odyssey and Bladerunner helped me get a place on that course in London.
